GCSE Results 2023 Best Ever!
Swanlea School students celebrated outstanding GCSE results this year. 85% of our pupils achieved grades 4 or above in English and Maths (standard pass), while 74% accomplished grade 5 or above (stronger pass) in the same subjects. 84% of our year 11 students attained 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade 4 or above (standard pass). 74% of pupils gained 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 5 or above (stronger pass).

Swanlea school has also recorded its best ever GCSE Science results with 85% of students achieving a grade 4 or above.
39% of all grades achieved across all subjects were as high as they could be, ranging from 7-9!

A Level and BTEC Success in 2023!
We are delighted to be celebrating another year of excellent A Level and BTEC results for our Sixth Form students at Swanlea School – an effort owed to the dedicated hard work of the entire Swanlea community!

Students have again lived up to our values of Respect, Aspire and Achieve with 56% of students achieving A* to B grades. Many students are heading off to top Russell Group universities despite intense competition for places, including UCL, Kings, Queen Mary and Bristol. With an amazing 84% A*-C, staff, students, parents and carers are rightly celebrating another set of outstanding results.
Kings College, University of London has been a popular destination for our hardworking students this year with many of them going on to study a broad range of courses.
This includes Umar (A*A*A in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry) and Marsia (AAA in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics) who are going on to study Pharmacy and Dentistry respectively. Another student, Nadia, who achieved AAB in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry and will also be going to Kings to study Biomedicine with a year’s professional placement. Muaj will also be at Kings studying Computer Science after achieving straight A grades in his Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics. Tahmina also achieved three A grades in Economics, Sociology and Mathematics and is excited about studying Economics at UCL next year.
Another prestigious university which has been popular with our sixth form students is UCL. Yusuf achieved 3 A grades in his Mathematics, Biology and Physics A Levels and will now be studying Civil Engineering at UCL joined by Younes who will be studying Biomedical Sciences after securing grades A*AA in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. Shewly is looking forward to reading for a degree in Psychology with Education at UCL having attained 3 grade A’s in English Literature, Psychology and Sociology.
Samin is overjoyed with his three A grades as he can now pursue his dream of becoming a doctor having secured a place at Queen Mary to study Medicine. Giuly will also be going to Queen Mary having achieved A*A*A in Biology, Maths and Chemistry as well as a B grade in Italian. She will be studying Medical Genetics. Radiya will be joining them at Queen Mary to read Law after she achieved A*A*A in Psychology, Literature and History along with Yousra who will be reading Economics after getting A*AA in History, Mathematics and Economics.
We are very excited for Reuben who achieved grades A*A*A in Mathematics, Economics and Physics and is now preparing for life at Bristol University where he will be studying Mechanical Engineering.
Our BTEC results were equally impressive. We have students going on to top universities such as Fayza who achieved D*D*D* in BTEC Health and Social Care who will be studying Mental Health Nursing at Kings College and Johan who will be reading Computer Science at Goldsmiths having secured grades D*D*D in his BTEC IT course.
The Joint Heads of Sixth Form, Ms Khatun and Ms Dosanjh said, “we are incredibly proud of all our sixth form students, their hard work, commitment and resilience have really paid off and we are excited for the journey that lies ahead for them having achieved such incredible results. It has been a privilege to work with such wonderful young people who have truly fostered the Swanlea values of respect, achievement and aspirations. We wish them every success for the future”.
The headteacher, Ms Landers, was overjoyed by the results. She stated, “These results are a testament to the continued academic excellence we pride ourselves for at Swanlea. We are elated that so many of our students have got their first-choice universities, including the significant number who will be continuing their academic studies at Russell Group universities.” Ms Landers further stated, “This is a fantastic set of results for both the school and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, our Governors, and, of course, the students themselves for their sheer determination and hard work!”
It is no surprise that Swanlea Sixth Form remains a popular choice for many of our students. We are exceptionally pleased with the excellent achievement of all our sixth formers today and wish them much happiness and success in their future pursuits.

GCSE Results 2022
Swanlea School students celebrated outstanding GCSE results this year. 88% of our pupils achieved grades 4 or above in English and Maths (standard pass), while 79% accomplished grade 5 or above (stronger pass) in the same subjects. 87% of our year 11 students attained 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths at grade 4 or above (standard pass). 79% of pupils gained 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 5 or above (stronger pass).
Almost every student gained a standard pass for GCSE English. In fact, 93% can boast of a grade 4 or above in this core subject. 88% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in English. Our pupils are also celebrating successful grades in Maths, as 89% of students achieved a grade 4, or above and 80% of students accomplished a grade 5 or above in this equally important subject.
50% of Swanlea School students achieved the highest possible grades of 7-9 in Maths and 43% of students achieved similar grades between 7-9 in English!
Swanlea school has also recorded its best ever GCSE Science results with 84% of students achieving a grade 4 or above.

A Level and BTEC Results 2022
Swanlea 6th Form Success!
We are celebrating amazing A Level and BTEC results once again for our Sixth Form students at Swanlea School. Students have certainly lived up to our values of Respect, Aspire and Achieve with 77% of students achieving A* to B grades. Many students are heading off to top universities such as Imperial, LSE, UCL, Queen Mary, Kings, Nottingham and Manchester. With an astounding 94% A*-C, staff, students, parents and carers are celebrating another set of outstanding results.
One such student is Mehjabin who achieved A*AA in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics which means she can pursue her dream to study Medicine at Queen Mary.
Kevin (A*AA) will be studying Electronic Engineering at Imperial College and Fahim (A*A*A*) will go on to study Computer Science at Queen Mary, both now extremely happy with their impressive results.
Mumtahina, a future engineer, will be studying at the prestigious University College London thanks to her A* A* A A grades in Mathematics, Economics, Physics and Italian.
In addition, Naveena achieved A A A in Psychology, Sociology and Religious Studies and will go on to read Law at SOAS.
The further study of Maths continues to be highly popular with our successful students. Having obtained excellent results, Aasiful, Saima, Ehsanul, Imran, Ashfaqur are all off to top Russell Group universities.
We have many students venturing out of London for their degrees such as Ziad who is on his way to the University of Reading having achieved 3 A’s and Arafat who achieved A*, A, A and is going to the University of Nottingham to study Mechanical Engineering.
Our BTEC results were equally impressive and we have students going on to top universities such as Farhan and Aisha who will be studying Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence and Midwifery respectively at City University. Selassie and Luku will be going to Queen Mary to read Marketing and Business Management.

GCSE Results 2021
Well done to our amazing Year 11 students on their exceptional GCSE and BTEC examination results! Swanlea students’ have excelled this year, despite the challenges faced from the pandemic, with our grades and progress amongst the best in the country. Some of their achievements are listed below.
Giuly Uddin – Best progress results in her GCSES, made more than 3 grades progress compared to previous similar students on entry at secondary school. She worked really hard to achieve 3 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s, and 4 grade 7s.
Muaj Rahman – Our top performing student, with 9 grade 9s, 1 distinction and 1 grade 8. Muaj has been the Year Team council head boy and played an important role over the years representing the students’ views on the school council.
Nadia Ahmed – One of our top performing students. Consistently working hard through the pandemic to achieve 4 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and 3 grade 7s. Grade 9s in subjects English Language, German, Physics and RE.
Umar Subhan – One of our top performing students. Consistently working hard through the pandemic to achieve 3 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and 1 grade 7 and a distinction. Grade 9s in subjects English Language and English Literature.
Our attainment 8 score is a fantastic 56.10, with 85% of students achieving the key 9-4 grades in English and Maths. A superb 67% of students went on to achieve grades 9-5 in English and Maths. 90% of students were rewarded with a grade 4 or higher in English, with 87% achieving the same figure in Maths.
All of our Year 11 students have been a credit to themselves and their families, they deserve great credit for their hard work and resilience over the past two years. We are so proud of them and wish them every success in their future studies at Swanlea 6th form and beyond. Well done Year 11!
