Swanlea School Personal Development Extended Curriculum Programme
At Swanlea School students engage on a broad Personal Development programme which is delivered across during tutor time lessons, assemblies, subject linked learning and the extended curriculum. This programme addresses a number of different strands, such as cultural experiences, careers, etc which develop students beyond the formal academic curriculum.
Below is an outline of some of the events and activities which students engage in to enrich their personal development delivered through the extended curriculum. This consists of Super Learning Days (‘SLD’ which are primarily drop days in the Autumn and Spring Terms), Arts Week (in the Summer Term), morning, lunchtime and afterschool clubs, and other special events (refer to separate document for CEIAG, work related learning, entitlement, etc).
Weekly clubs include Music classes, Sports activities, inter-tutor games, breakfast clubs, after school homework support.
Swanlea School takes full advantage of any opportunity offered by various organisations in London and beyond. For example, all Year 8s are taking part in the Song for London project offered by Spitalfields Music, all Year 11s watching the Globe Players perform Macbeth in school. Similarly, Year 11s will have a theatre visit to see Macbeth. We are very fortunate to be offered incidental opportunities and always ensure our students benefit from these social and cultural experiences.
