Aspire Week at Swanlea School has been a fantastic opportunity for students to develop important life skills, explore future pathways and gain inspiration from professionals and guest speakers.
The week began with Year 9 students taking part in a Skills for Success workshop delivered by The Switch. The session focused on key workplace skills such as communication, interview skills and problem-solving, with business professionals joining remotely to share real-world insights into how these skills are used in their careers.
On Day 2, Year 7 students participated in a Money Matters workshop, also delivered by The Switch. The session helped students understand the importance of saving money, recognising the difference between needs and wants, and developing positive financial habits from an early age.
Day 3 focused on Year 8 students as they explored Options and Careers, encouraging them to think about how their interests and subject choices can shape future opportunities. Students were also inspired by a special assembly from Akke Rahman, the first British Muslim to climb Mount Everest twice. Remarkably, he completed one of his climbs during Ramadan, sharing a powerful message about resilience, determination and setting ambitious goals.
Aspire Week concluded with Swanlea School’s Careers Fair, where more than 30 organisations joined over 400 students for an inspiring event. Students had the chance to speak directly with industry professionals, explore career pathways and gain valuable insight into future opportunities.
A huge thank you to all the organisations, speakers and partners who gave their time and expertise to support our students throughout Aspire Week.
