The British Museum – Museum of the World

Did you know- One of the oldest objects in the museum is a stone chopping tool from Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania which is dated to about 1.8 million years ago. It was used with another hard stone and could be used to chop branches from trees, cut meat from large animals or smash bones for marrow fat, an essential part of early human diet.
