Well done to our amazing Year 11 students on their exceptional GCSE and BTEC examination results! Swanlea students’ have excelled this year, despite the challenges faced from the pandemic, with our grades and progress amongst the best in the country. Some of their achievements are listed below.

Giuly Uddin – Best progress results in her GCSES, made more than 3 grades progress compared to previous similar students on entry at secondary school. She worked really hard to achieve 3 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s, and 4 grade 7s.

Muaj Rahman – Our top performing student, with 9 grade 9s, 1 distinction and 1 grade 8. Muaj has been the Year Team council head boy and played an important role over the years representing the students’ views on the school council.

Nadia Ahmed – One of our top performing students. Consistently working hard through the pandemic to achieve 4 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and 3 grade 7s. Grade 9s in subjects English Language, German, Physics and RE.

Umar Subhan – One of our top performing students. Consistently working hard through the pandemic to achieve 3 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s and 1 grade 7 and a distinction. Grade 9s in subjects English Language and English Literature.

Our attainment 8 score is a fantastic 56.10, with 85% of students achieving the key 9-4 grades in English and Maths. A superb 67% of students went on to achieve grades 9-5 in English and Maths. 90% of students were rewarded with a grade 4 or higher in English, with 87% achieving the same figure in Maths.

All of our Year 11 students have been a credit to themselves and their families, they deserve great credit for their hard work and resilience over the past two years. We are so proud of them and wish them every success in their future studies at Swanlea 6th form and beyond. Well done Year 11!

A Level Results 2021!

Congratulations to all of our Year 13 students on their excellent A Level and BTEC Level 3 Results! Swanlea students have secured places on competitive courses at a range of prestigious universities and it was wonderful to be able to celebrate their successes with them on Results Day.

Shahriyar Chowdhury will be studying Medicine at King’s College London. Aniad Hossain, who achieved an amazing four A* grades at A level, will be taking a gap year before pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Tanzila Alom achieved A*A A in her A Levels and will be studying Comparative Literature at Queen Mary University. Hudhaifa Hussain has secured a place to study Physics with Astrophysics at King’s College London.  Meanwhile, Houda Zaouchi’s impressive triple Distinction starred in BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care has won her a place to study nursing at the University of Exeter.

All of our Year 13 students deserve huge recognition for their hard work and resilience over the past two years. We are so proud of them and wish them every success in their future studies.

 

 

GCSE Results 2020!

This year’s GCSE results have been fantastic and reflect five years of determined work from our Governors, staff, parents and students. We are proud of how all of our school community have worked in partnership throughout this difficult year and we are now able to celebrate the success of our young peoples’ GCSE results. We look forward to seeing many of our students return to the Sixth Form in September.

 

Some particularly outstanding results were:

Valeria Damola got ten grade 9s and one grade 8

Saima Haque got nine grade 9s and two grade 8s.

Mumtahina Razia got nine 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7.

Mehjabin Islam got eight grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7.

Yusuf Reza Khan got seven grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7 and a D*2

Shafi Ahmed got six grade 9s, four grade 8s and a D*2.

Main headlines

  • Progress 8 score: 0.81
  • Attainment 8 score: 54.20
  • EBacc percentage (pupils who got a GCSE grade C or above in English, maths, 2 sciences, a language, history or geography): 49%
  • Destination of students continuing in education or training from KS4 is 90%

This year’s GCSE results have been our best results ever! Congratulations to our amazing students, staff and families for all their hard work and support over the past five years. We are incredibly proud of these outstanding results. Some highlights are:

  • On average students, get +0.82 of a grade better at Swanlea School compared to other schools nationally. Swanlea is one of the top 120 schools within the UK, based on pupils’ progress.
  • Girls achieved +0.86 of grade better compared to other students nationally.
  • Boys achieved +0.7 of a grade better compared to other students nationally.
  • 79% of students achieved a 4+ in English and Maths
  • 59% of students achieved a 5+ in English and Maths
  • 78% of students achieved 5 GCSEs 9-4 including English and Maths

Congratulations to Arpan Dev and Michelle Mendieta Mean, two of our top achieving students who have gained places at Cambridge and Oxford! Arpan will be reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge University and Michelle will be reading Fine Art at Oxford University.

 

Approximately half of our students have been accepted onto courses at Russell Group universities, including Queen Mary University and Kings College, studying a range of courses such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Law, Biomedical Sciences, Psychology and History.

Finally, well done and congratulations to the winners of the Swanlea Sixth Form Governors Bursary.

The Swanlea Sixth Form Governors Bursary was introduced in 2017 and is awarded annually to 3/4 successful year 13 students who are going to university, have met their target grades and have achieved 94% and over in attendance and punctuality.

The bursaries are worth £7500 for a three-year university course.

This year we have awarded the bursary to:

Amazing GCSE Results 2018!

Swanlea has achieved an estimated progress 8 score of +0.4 and a provisional attainment 8 score of 48.6, both of which are higher than the national average!

Milan Ly finding out she achieved: 2 9s, 4 8s, 2 7s, 1 6 and an A*

English and Maths results were superb, with 73% of students achieving a good pass and 51% of students achieving a strong pass!
